National Safe Work Month - October 2019
This October the theme for National Safe Work Month is ‘Be a Safety Champion’. We love to celebrate and support this important initiative, and we encourage you and your organisations to celebrate too!
This year, to help you and your colleagues be safety champions in your workplace, we are holding a competition - Bringing Safety to You.
We have 4 x 1 hour lunch and learn style sessions up for grabs. Be a safety champion and apply to win a session for your workplace this October!

Visible Safety Leadership – Why Relationships are the Key

Positive Psychology – Self-care Tips
Presented by Traci Carse
An introduction to the PERMA model, a wellbeing framework developed by Positive Psychologist Martin Seligman. Participants will learn about the 5 key elements to wellbeing: Positive emotions, Engagement, positive Relationships, Meaning and Accomplishment. Individuals will walk away with some practical tips on how to use the PERMA model in everyday life to support their happiness and wellbeing.
5 Strategies to get More Value out of Investigations
Presented by Kerry Walker
Drawn from years of experience investigating critical incidents including fatalities, this workshop will explore beyond the usual technical techniques of investigations.
Coaching Your Teams for a Safer Workplace
Presented by John Lynch
During this session we will discuss and demonstrate the value of asking genuine questions and listening to understand not just to respond to improve safety performance. This will include how to have valuable safety coaching conversations with well-structured questions and how to provide time for reflection.
Utilising Consultation for Optimal Risk Management Outcomes
Presented by Kelly Turner
This workshop explores effective WHS risk management and the value of engagement and discussion. During this session we will discuss the critical steps of consultation in risk management. This includes engaging with leadership, identifying key stakeholders, defining the scope and context of what is to be assessed, observation, and communication of the outcomes.
Engaging in Conversations that Count
Presented by Carolyn Hands
Creating a safety and wellbeing conversation culture positively impacts the performance of organisations. This session explores ‘how’, ‘when’, ‘where’, and ‘what’ safety and wellbeing conversations can be incorporated into everyday routines to achieve new levels of engagement and performance.
Applications close 5pm Monday 2nd September and winners will be announced Monday 9th September. Winners will be contacted directly to schedule the session for October 2019. This competition is available to organisations from across Australia. All sessions are complimentary for up to 20 participants.
